Event
BigBrass Bigger Bash Saturday 18th June 2005
Time: 9.30 – 12.30 Central Hall, Duncolme Street Grimsby
As part of the ongoing success of the BigBrass Programme we have organised the second event for ALL BigBrass players to meet and create music together.
To host this event we have invited trombonist Dennis Rollins, a respected band leader and producer, who founded his own five-piece, ‘Dennis Rollins Bad Bone and Co’. Dennis is the Youth Music ambassador for the trombone and helped develop the BigBrass programme. His unique style enables him to perform in many genres including jazz and pop and he has worked with the country’s top personalities, including Tom Jones, Blur and Jamiroquai! Using his vast knowledge and skills we hope the second event will let the participant experience the next exciting level of BigBrass.
During the workshop Dennis will give a short demonstration and participants will have fun trying new musical ideas on their instruments. The workshop will cater for all levels so new participants need not worry.
The last 1/2 an hour of the event is open to any young people interested that do not already participate in BigBrass.
News
New Tutor on BigBrass
Mr Garry Oglesby (front of pic) has now joined the BigBrass programme; he specialises in French Horn but is excited about getting as many young people to play lower brass instruments as possible.
He has been visiting several schools in the area to demonstrate the BigBrass instruments and we hope this will encourage more participants.
BigBrass Trainee
We would like to welcome Adrian Clarke (back of pic) as a trainee for BigBrass.
Adrian will be helping tutors in lessons, second points of contacts and demonstrations. He is a keen tuba player and at present is involved in Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band.
